TODD CERNEY MUSICAL RESUME
TODD CERNEY,
singer / songwriter / engineer / producer, was born in Detroit and grew
up in Zanesville, Ohio . He’s been living and working in Nashville since
1974.
"Good Morning
Beautiful," his song on the first album by Steve Holy, was # 1 on the country charts for 5 weeks. It
also was used in the Jennifer Lopez movie, "Angel Eyes." It was
one of only four songs to win an ASCAP Film & TV award for “Most
Performed Song Featured in a Motion Picture“ for 2003. Etta James'
new Grammy winning CD, “Let's Roll,” includes Todd’s song, ”Blues
is My Business,” which was also featured in the HBO program, "The Sopranos."
Todd was a Grammy
nominee in the Best Country Song category for
"I'll Still
Be Loving You" recorded by Restless Heart. He won the
ASCAP Country Song of the Year for the same song in 1987.
He has had
songs recorded by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad English, Eddie
Money, Cheap Trick, Loverboy, The Four Tops /
Aretha Franklin, Martika, The Cover Girls, Lita
Ford, Joy Lynn White, Ty Herndon, The Purify Brothers, Phoebe
Snow, Giant, Levon Helm, Jason And The Scorchers,
Little Anthony, Bill Medley, Twiggy, John Anderson,
, Brigette Nielson, David Hasselhof, , Sylvia,
The Kendalls, The Whites and many more.
In 1988, he
participated in
Music Speaks Louder Than Words, the first
official collaborations between Soviet and American songwriters held in
Moscow .
In June 2005 Todd
did a month-long tour
of American Armed Forces bases in England, Belgium, the Netherlands &
Iceland and embassies in Prague, Minsk & Poland.as a member of Thom Shepherd and the Nashville Hit Songwriter Band.
Todd has an
extensive history of singing, songwriting and engineering. He spent seven
years at the Creative Workshop in Nashville, working with Kenny
Rogers, Dolly Parton, Olivia Newton John, Jimmy
Buffett , The Last Elvis Sessions and many others. His
harmonies can also be heard on records by such artists as Kenny Rogers,
Michael Johnson, John Conlee, Levon Helm and others. Todd
played mandolin with the Dixie Chicks on
their first radio promotion tour, and he also played with the
Nashville Mandolin Ensemble. Todd currently writes for Riff
Meister Music, ASCAP .
